Job Description
The National University of Singapore invites applications for the position of Visiting Professor in the Department of Medicine at Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Our Department is committed to excellence in Family Medicine research, education and clinical practice. We aim to improve health outcomes through local and international collaborators, and to nurture future generations of medical professionals in primary care.
Strengthen and expand the department’s global network of researchers in primary care. Provide expert advice to identify nascent and/or emerging trends, strategic priorities in primary care research to ensure alignment to the department’s mission.
The Visiting Professor will work with the PI(s) to support the department’s mission. He/she shall:
1. Develop and implement a programme of research in Primary Care and Family Medicine as aligned with the departmental rack record and priorities, including publication in Q1 journals and securing funding (NUHS, NMRC, others). Responsibilities include:
- Implementing designs for the evaluation of effects under non-randomised conditions;
- Applying machine learning to enhance research outcomes;
- Utilising data analytics and patients´ voice to improve outcomes in primary care;
- Enhancing data-driven approaches to improve chronic disease management
- Creating and analysing large datasets related to cancer risk factors, and developing prediction models to facilitate earlier cancer diagnosis and treatment in primary care.
2. Contribute to the development and delivery of the postgraduate agenda of the department, with particular attending to the postgraduate programme in Primary Health Care, and maximising the department’s outputs by identifying high-quality dissemination opportunities and publications in top-tiered journals e.g., British Journal of General Practice, Annals of Family Medicine, European Journal of General Practice.
3. Contribute to the development of the Centre for Research in Health Systems Performance with a focus on Primary Care policy in the areas of research and policy intelligence and analysis, while also contributing to capacity building in data science, health services research and in population health by designing and delivering tailored training activities in primary care data and analysis and meta-analysis.
4. Assist in the identification and recruitment of early-career, experienced, and senior academics to increase the critical mass of the department.
Qualifications
The applicant should:
- Possess a medical degree that is internationally recognized;
- Demonstrate extensive and diverse experience in primary care research;
- Exhibit the ability to work independently and collaboratively; and
- Proficiency in computer applications, e.g., SPSS, MS office, PowerPoint.
Remuneration will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
