The Centre for International Law (CIL) was established in 2009 as a university-level research institute at the National University of Singapore (NUS). It is situated on the Bukit Timah Campus of NUS, alongside the Lee Kwan Yew School of Public Policy. As a university-level research institute, CIL engages in both legal and multi-disciplinary research on a wide variety of international law topics. Its mission is to enable Singapore and the Asia-Pacific region to play a more influential role in the promotion and development of international law. CIL is seeking an outstanding scholar specializing in international law and Central Asia to join as a Visiting Principal Research Fellow.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthen CIL's academic partnerships with universities, governments, international organisations, and research institutions across Central Asia and neighbouring regions;
- Develop research initiatives, conferences, workshops, executive training programmes, and policy dialogues relating to Central Asia and its growing importance in international affairs;
- Contribute to CIL's expanding work on peace and security, regional cooperation, connectivity, and contemporary challenges to international law;
- Undertake high-quality research in public international law, with particular expertise relating to Central Asia and the wider Eurasian region;
- Support the further development of TRILA and other CIL programmes by strengthening scholarly engagement with Central Asia and promoting greater regional participation;
- Contribute to postgraduate supervision, mentoring, and capacity-building activities;
Qualifications
- PhD degree in public international laws or related fields;
- Strong track records of outstanding research accomplishments within the international research community;
- Demonstrated aptitude for effective leadership, strong interpersonal skills and management capabilities;
- Evidence of having successfully directed research projects or academic initiatives;
- Evidence of course development and strong teaching in the field of expertise.
